Casio Announces Logosease Underwater Two-Way Radio SDI Specialty Course
Yamagata, Japan, May 31, 2017 — Yamagata Casio Co., Ltd., a manufacturing subsidiary of Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that the scuba diving training and certification agency Scuba Diving International (SDI) has developed a course on how to use Logosease compact two-way radios for conversing underwater. Registration for the courses begins on June 1, 2017.
Developed and marketed by Yamagata Casio, Logosease is an underwater two-way radio (dive transceiver) that attaches to a regular underwater diving mask, enabling divers to converse while wearing an air regulator in the mouth. Since its launch in January 2013, Logosease continues to appeal to divers as an accessible and innovative device that enables conversation underwater, compared with conventional communication by writing on slates or using hand signals, or professional specialized diving equipment.
SDI was established in 1998 by the diving training and certification agency International Training,*1 to focus on training for recreational divers. The Logosease Diver Specialty Course launched by SDI comprises classroom instruction and instruction in a pool and open water to use Logosease effectively. SDI Open Water Divers can choose to take the Logosease course as one of the specialty courses that they must take in order to move up to become an SDI Advanced Diver. Divers who successfully complete the Logosease course will be issued a certificate of completion.
*1 International Training is the third largest diving training and certification agency in the world, operating three agencies: SDI, TDI—the world’s largest training agency for technical divers, and ERDI—the world’s largest training agency for emergency response divers. International Training has more than 25 regional offices in 100 countries, employing thousands of diving instructors.
Travis Euiook Jung, Representative for International Training (SDI/TDI/ERDI) covering Hong Kong, China, and South Korea, said, “Logosease is an effective underwater communication tool. We can apply this tool in several ways underwater: to share experience, enhance safety, in rescue & recovery operations, and more. We are delighted to announce the Logosease Specialty Course. It can be taken at SDI now, and we expect to offer it in our other diving bodies at International Training.”
Yamagata Casio will continue to collaborate with SDI in an effort to promote broader adoption of Logosease among divers and increase diving safety and enjoyment under the instruction of SDI instructors.
